"Prompt: Jeremiah 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. God wants us to take delight in his Word. I used to find the Bible boring and repetitive and redundant. Thank God this has changed for me now. Now I love his Word. I prefer it. I look forward to spending time in it. What are some things we can do to keep or renew our interest in the Bible so we can delight in God's Word?" I think the main thing we can do is be saved to begin with. Paul says that God's word is foolishness to the unsaved and that is very true. There are times even today when I find the Bible hard to read, and that is usually because there is some sin in my life. The Holy Spirit cannot tolerate sin, though He sees all sin. He will withdraw when we sin and without Him the word of God makes no sense. So the first thing we need to do is confess and repent. Once we do that it is also good to take correspondence courses. I took hundreds of them before entering seminary. After that, I sat under a learned teacher for two years. I also read the Bible cover to cover numerous times, reading many versions. I am currently reading the New Living Translation and plan to read the New Revised Standard Version next. Prompt: "I received quite a shock today. I had two packages arrive. One was a new laptop computer I had forgotten bout ordering. The other was a chromebook I remembered ordering but do not know much about. I now have six laptops that will be donated to the home I live in eventually. I am working to write grant proposals to find more funding for the facility I live in. We are operating on the same budget we've had for twenty years. I want to increase that. Anyway on my way between meetings I cruised to foxtrot quadrant with Mr. Kirk and Buck Rogers. We found a star called K Renée who writes about being locked down in
What did you do during the lockdown? I live at the WV Veterans Home, so we have "Shelter in place" drills all the time, particularly since our facility is less than a mile from a maximum security penitentiary. The Western Regional Jail is just a few blocks from here and since it houses inmates from several counties, it is a maximum security lock up. Therefore, our facility does "active shooter", bomb threat, and other drills periodically. It's actually a good idea for everybody to preplan for disasters and other contingencies. You never know what is going to happen next and the world gets wilder every day. One of my big things at the moment is working to rebuild my credit. I was convinced by people when I was younger that I was "disabled" and I let that lie lead me to a life of nothingness. My credit went to pot. Now I am rebuilding it for a "rainy day." I have brought it up almost 300 points over two years. It isn't perfect but it's in the "good" range today. Shelter in place can be a good practice just as it is good to take first aid and CPR. I need to renew my "stop the bleed" training. I use to be an emergency medical technician and the methods I learned are now obsolete. I took "Stop the bleed" about two years ago and was surprised to find that they use tourniquets now. My favorite was the CAT or Combat Arms Tourniquet. It's simple to apply. |
