End of a South Carolina Winter

One grain of approval was all it took,
one heart-filled crumb.
One shovel to remove the sand from eyes
until there was just one mote,
then none, that blind spot
that darkened my universe, gently removed,
as I shook in disbelief,
leaving me speechless, dumb.
