} "Prompt: Proverbs 3:11-12 11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Write about a time you were chastened by the Lord." I believe a lot of people look at chastening from the Lord all wrong. They consider it punishment from God. God does not punish anybody. He never did for sin is its own punishment. It has consequences and repercussions. God allows those to be the punishment for sin. He may close the window of fellowship with His subjects, but I do not really believe He even does that. I believe when we sin He is standing there holding us and looking on our sin with us. No, He does not punish. He does chasten. The word used in this text is "מוּסַ֣ר" or musrar and it means "discipline." God disciplines when He allows trials to come into our lives. He is walking beside us every step of the way. He sees the storm on the horizon and knows the storm will beat and batter us, yet he walks us through it, knowing it will make us stronger. He does not punish us however. Some of the crew partied a little too hard yesterday at the star base so we took pity on them today and let them sleep in. Instead of warping to the outer rim or anything too extraordinary, we stayed in familiar territory. We visited Lostwordsmith who has been burning brightly in the WDC galaxy for sometime. I have skin cancer, hopefully now in remission. I will know when I see the doctor again. The way I deal with the heat is to stay out of it as much as possible. I also drink plenty of fluids and use a high SPF sunscreen. |
