Cooking up a storm

What kinds of things do you like to cook or are good at cooking? What are your comfort foods?

I used to love cooking when we were a large family. Even though they were every day sort of meals, things that kids like. I was good at it. Never had to consult cook books, I seemed to have a flare for making up recipes. Now there are just the two of us. The adjustment for smaller meals took years, I simply couldn’t avoid making too much.

Now I tend to cook very simply. We don’t need to eat cakes and pies so I rarely go to the trouble.
I like to make soups and casseroles, things I can freeze to use another day.
