Another Lousy New Years Day at Work
Another Lousy New Years Day at Work

Unfortunately, I was right about how busy it was going to be yesterday at work. It was more like a Friday than it was a Saturday. I wasn’t completely right, though. True, it was very busy yesterday. But it wasn’t as busy as it has been the last few Fridays. It was a lot busy that most of my Saturdays have been lately. That’s why I’m writing that it was a Friday instead of a Saturday.

How busy it was wasn’t the only reason why I barely got ten single paragraphs written yesterday at work. It being a Saturday, it should have been a little more. A lot closer to fifteen. If not a few more than that. But it wasn’t. Quite a bit of that is because of work. And how busy it was there yesterday. but not all of it. in fact, most of the reason why I didn’t get more written.

It all started on my way to work. First, I had a driver who didn’t want to turn right on a red light. Then I slipped and fell when I was going in to get my drink at Quik Trip. After that, I had to stop off to get something to eat. Of course, there were three cars in front of me. It took a lot longer than it should have to get my order. And even then, it wasn’t what I wanted to order.

The worse was yet to come. Because of the traffic wanting to go super slow because of the snowstorm aftermath and getting stuck at almost every light along the way to work, I was a few minutes late. That’s okay for everyone else. But it isn’t for me. Of course, I would have probably made it on time anyway if I didn’t have to take my temperature. No one else must do it. But I do.

One or two others still do take their temperature daily. At least they used to do it. but they still have a choice of whether they want to do it or not. I don’t get that choice. The worst part about all this temperature taking is that the computer isn’t even on when I take it. Sometimes it barely gets turned on when I get there. That’s how I know I’m the only one. And on the weekend, it’s not turned on at all.

What does all this mean? It means that between getting to work and how busy it was at work yesterday, I only got ten single paragraphs written. And I had to force myself to do at least that many. The way that if felt because of what happened to me before work and after I started work, I didn’t really want to do any writing. But I forced myself to do at least ten of them.

In a way that’s good news. It’s also bad news. The good news is that I only have ten more single paragraphs to write for my Water Wars scriptwriting project to end Act One of the second episode of this project. My bad news is that it should be a lot more on the weekend. True, it’s possible I could get more written today. But if today is anything like yesterday, I may be lucky to get ten more of them written.
