"Be of good courage, ...". The day dawned on a dark note. The weather is murky, the sun’s behind the clouds, no birds sang. A moan escapes my love’s parched lips. his suffering, beyond anyone’s guess. Strange malady struck him sudden. Lost his nerve, lost his momentum. It took me a herculean effort to keep up a stiff upper lip, not to cave in to crying helpless and lonesome tears, unstoppable. My courage sprang from within the depths of my being, my focus on the Almighty. The magical words of Joshua lent succor to my depleted strength of mind. Words of wisdom worked their magic “Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord.” The wonderful psalm flashed on my mind bringing solace to my fevered self. And lo! I sat up from a dull state with a smile that spoke of a better future, my faith in the Lord intact. I know He ever walks by my side, His eyes full of mercy and sympathy, He guided me so I take the right steps to restore my love’s health and happiness. Thank you God, for this new freedom from the shackles of sickening sadness. Lines: 30 Written for The Lighthouse Poetry Contests hosted by LegendaryMask |
