Mama and Me By Lisa Noe I can so fondly recall my twelfth birthday way back in September of, well let’s just leave that a secret, Okay. My mom took me to every store in Biloxi, Mississippi, to find a pair of roller skates. I wanted them so bad because my big sister had a pair and I wanted to be like her. Besides that, I loved to skate. We went to Penneys, Sears, and every other store that sold such things on Edgewater Mall. We also searched Roses and Kmart. I was so sad because we could not find them, but mama tried to make it all better by telling me that I could have a swimming party. She also bought me several presents at almost every store we visited. I knew she loved me, I could feel it and I loved her right back. I really appreciated how she tried to make up for not having skates for me. Later that day me, my sister, Tammie, and our friend Mary were out by the swimming pool, I was not supposed to get in the water until My father got home. I set and watched my sister and Mary playing in the pool, I was anxious and wanted to play too. Tammie told me to jump in and hold on to the side of the pool, she said she would catch me if I got in too deep. I did just that! I jumped in and held on to the side of the pool, The cement was slippery and my hands slipped and I went under the water. Tammie and Mary tried to get me to the side of the pool but I kept going under, At that time, my dad got home and saw what was happening and he jumped in the pool and pulled me to safety. Thank God my father was there or I would be dead. From that point on, I always listened and minded my parents, I did everything they said. My dad’s gone now, but thankfully I still have mama, we are best friends and I currently live with her. I had the best parents and I felt so loved. |
