March 26, 2020 - Camille Deputter - Okay To Just Be Yourself
March 26
Today is looking into a poem by Camille Deputter. She is another poet / author that was at the Toronto Word On The Street Festival last September. I looked through her book, Little Poems For Big Hearts: Poems and Journaling Prompts For Compassion & Courage. The poem I selected is "when you need to remember it is okay to just be yourself"

Let them be them.
The world is big--
There's plenty room for all.
Let them be them
And you be you.
Standing true and tall.

Being social isolated is getting to me. At times, I feel so out of sorts and anxiety bubbles and seeps into my existence. It's like being out on the lake and then noticing my boat has sprung a leak. A slow leak, but a leak all the same. All the comfort and confidence I had in my boat and my place on the lake is now in jeopardy. I need to not over react. Breathe. And deal with the leak. I can see the shore. I think I can paddle in if I had to.... and there are others that will encouragement me and guide me, but I still have to do it on my own.

Today's upset came in the form of a text wondering why I had not made it to the online staff meeting. Since I don't check my work email very often and usually only at work, I missed the meeting. I spent the rest of my morning reading messages I missed and getting back up to speed on what is expected. I won't miss anything else. In fact, I have learned I can keep my work stuff open on another Window. That way I can flip back and forth between my writing life and my teaching life.
