Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Blog City image small I know there is no prompt today but I don't want to fall out of the habit of blogging so I'm writing this. As most people know, I am a soldier in the Salvation Army. I am our adult Sunday school teacher, which means I am teaching this morning. I am also involved in our corps "Penny Wars". Penny wars is a campaign we do in October to raise our missionary offerings for the year. It is a friendly competition between the corps men's club and the home league or women's club. (I know, The term "home league" sounds archaic and sexist). Anyway, if the men's club collects the most pennies in October, the home league serves us breakfast the first Sunday of November. If the women collect the most pennies they get breakfast served by the men's club. It has to be copper. Silver coins count as a deduction in points. Therefore I have gathered up $13.07 cents. $5.07 is in pennies for the men's club. The remaining $8.00 is for the home league. The women are going to love me! The treasurer will love me as well because I separated the pennies into a bag and labeled the amount so she doesn't have to count it. I usually help count the offering anyway so it would likely fall on me anyway. I'm saving us both the trouble. I have no wrappers or I would wrap them for accuracy. As it is, it is all separated.
I would like to ask how many of my readers attend church regularly? Of those who do, how many believe in tithing? I tithe my paycheck as a part of my covenant with the Salvation Army. I have yet to do without anything. I know that God honors the tithe. He blesses it and it is multiplied back. We may not have a lot of money, but we will never do without.
