Seasons in Oklahoma
Seasons in Oklahoma

Spring is cold, wet, and miserable--
Too cold to go out of the house in shorts,
too warm to wear a fur coat.
So what is one to do?
Grab a light jacket,
go out of the house, lock the door,
run to your car,
turn the heater on, and go.

Spring toes right into summer,
with hot winds and thunderstorms,
and tornadoes.
Summer is the time the ripened fields
of wheat waives in the breeze,
just waiting for the farmer
to start his big machines to cut the grain.

Then the sky darkens,
the thunders roars,
lightning flashes,
the wind blows,
the farmer stops his machines,
and head for the house
until the storm passes.

Fall is cold and raining,
sometimes an early snowstorm.

Winter brings more snow,
more wind,
and sleet storms.

Then spring is here again,
with the unsettled weather
when it's hard to decide what to wear:
Will it be a jacket or fur coat?
Those are the seasons in Oklahoma.
