"January 7, 2019" "Prompt: "The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, before His deeds of old:" Proverbs 8: 22. What does this proverb mean to you?" To me this proverb testifies to the immortality of man. God created each of us and if I read this proverb correctly our souls were created at the beginning of the world. God knew when He created the world what I would be like and He knew my every need. He began planning me before the world was created. He began making arrangements for Jesus to sacrifice His life for me from the beginning of time. He has always known me and loved me. I find comfort (and fear) in that fact. "Prompt: Psychologists claim that some people feel they don’t deserve to be happy. Why do you think this is and what may be the reason or reasons some people feel this way to undermine their own happiness?" People know themselves. They can fool most others but they know themselves well. They often feel they don't deserve happiness because they know their deeds are evil. True happiness comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Most people want to reject that because they find a sort of comfort in darkness. Darkness is familiar to them and we are usually more comfortable with the familiar. They don't want happiness and the joy that comes with eternal life. God tells us in Philippians 1: 6 that "He who started a good work in you will see it through to completion in the day of Christ Jesus." God has provided man with a luxury suite on the ocean liner of life. Our ticket has been bought and paid for and we are welcome to dine at the Captain's table every meal. Instead we would rather live among the hired help and try to sneak on board the liner to dwell in the cargo hold eating crackers. That's if we even get on board at all! God calls humans "sheep" and that is not a complimentary statement! Sheep are the least intelligent of animals and are very stubborn. Humans are very stubborn. We feel we don't deserve happiness and we do anything to avoid it. "Prompt: Pick a title either (1) Happy Monday or (2) Blessed Monday and write about the reason Monday is either happy or blessed." Every day is blessed if the Lord is in it. I have been having some anxiety because college is about to start again. So there are days when quite honestly I don't feel so blessed. However I know that the anxiety is simply the result of a misfiring neuron in my brain and that I have no reason to be anxious. God created each day, including Monday. He said that each day was "good" therefore it is good. By faith I know this. In 17 weeks I will be a graduate and the anxiety I feel will be a thing of the past. God help my unbelief! |
