Small Matters
Small Matters
In the empty silence, distrust fills my heart.
Could I have done more? Did my words not convince?
What part did I share in splitting us apart?
Unkind words that were spoken made us both wince;
pride overrode love – no "I'm sorry's" were said.
Such small matters loom with receding distance.
If I could go back, repair small wounds that bled,
would we have found healing needed to survive?
Surely, small matters mend when bound with love's thread.
Only in pale reflections can I revive
those warm memories when my heart was alive.
