How does the changing light and weather influence your daily rhythms? What has nature taught you about yourself?
As a mental health consumer (patient) and as a psychology major I can state with 199% certainty that weather has a direct effect on everybody. There is tons of empirical data to support the theory that darkness or lack of light causes depression. Alaska has a much higher rate of depression per capita than any other state. The cure has been found to be to give high doses of vitamin D3, which is made by exposure to the sun and a high intensity light box the patient stands in front of for twenty minutes per day. The illness is called Seasonal Affective Disorder and is recognized by the American Psychological Association 's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental Disorders.
