Love at first sight on an impromptu vacation
30-Day blogging challenge Day 30: July 30, 2011 ~ Prompt: “Write a story, poem, essay, composition including: Love at first sight & an ideal or an impromptu vacation”

I was going to write a story called Love at First Sight on an Impromptu Vacation, but my muse walked out the front door, just left me sitting on the couch staring into silence, into darkness. The more I thought about the title, the better I liked the idea for the story and the deeper the silence grew. I could not think of characters. I could not think of a sitting. I could not envision a plot.

I am not sure what caused this problem, it could be the idea of love at first sight. I have no problems writing about lust at first sight because I know that occurs on a regular basis across the planet. However, when it comes to love at first sight, I question the concept; I suspect it could be a myth. I will reserve judgment on that for a while; I mean that just because I have never experienced it the ... emotion does not make it impossible.

Perhaps I have never experienced it because I have never been on an impromptu vacation. It has been so long since I was on any type of vacation; I would not know how to act. The last time I was out of Las Vegas for any amount of time I attended my brother’s wedding and I do not think that counts as a vacation.

I need a vacation of some type. I would enjoy an impromptu vacation, an ideal vacation (which I have yet to define), or a staycation. I would enjoy going to the Las Vegas Zoo, at least I think Las Vegas still has a zoo. I have not been out of the house for a “fun” reason in a long time.

I do get out of the house. I go to the laundromat. I go to the grocery story. I go to doctor’s appointment. Today I got out of the house. I went to a Shell station because I had over 400 points on my Smith’s card. I bought gas and got $0.40 off per gallon, I was thrilled. After I bought gas, I went to Angel Food Ministries and picked up the boxes of food I ordered at the beginning of the month.

I still think that Love at First Sight on an Impromptu Vacation would make a good title for a story. Maybe I need to give it a little more thought.
