Summer parties at the beach,
Dancing in the sand.
Memories of happy times,
Meetings yet unplanned.

Girl friend’s cousin visiting,
Here from out of town.
Needs a date to have some fun,
Sightsee and show around.

Mysterious stranger comes to call,
Sweeps you off your feet.
Every minute of every day,
No time has been so sweet.

Then the heat of summer’s gone,
The stranger leaves one day.
No tears or words or pleadings,
Can ever make him stay.

Summertime just passes by,
It’s fleeting like a dream.
In the clear reality,
Things are not what they seem.

Memories, still, are very dear.
Someone said, I recall,
Better to have loved and lost,
Than never to have loved at all.
