There is a serial killer loose and only cooperation will bring the culprit to justice. |
RoE D4 Pt17 “So, what are we doing today?” asked Rob. Darrel gave Rob a look. Rob lowered his head and sat quietly. “I’m going to risk taking a truck into town for a look around. I might catch a glimpse of Mitch or the boys,” said Tyrel. “That’s well and good,” said Darrel, “but what we need is more information about the Auto Club boys and their involvement in these deaths.” “I wish we could get a message to Mitch. We could really use his resources.” said Kristin. “There are these cool cars gathering dust in a warehouse down the street. We could get a message to the Auto Club that we want to show them off, maybe even race.” said Rob. “Something like that would give us information about how the hierarchy of the club has changed since Rick’s death. The new leader could have killed Rick to gain control.” “I could slip out and take a note to the Auto Club,” said Rob. “I might even be able to slip something in Mitch Griffin’s mail slot.” Darrel was across the table in a heartbeat with his fist balled in Rob’s collar. “How do you know Mitch? You been spying on us? I knew you were trouble.” “Ow. Ow. Mitch is not exactly a common name around here.... I looked him up when he opened his real estate office. That’s all, I swear.” Kristin put a hand on Darrel’s arm. “You know he’s right, Darrel. Now let him go.” Darrel let go of Rob’s collar and plopped back in his chair, brooding. “Why don’t I have Rob show me these cars and I’ll see if I can get one running,” said Tyrel. “Sure, Tyrel. They are just a couple of warehouses down,” “You two go ahead,” said Kristin. “I’m going to clean up then see about writing those notes.” Tyrel and Rob headed out. Kristin started gathering dishes. “I wasn’t wrong,” said Darrel. “I know we got to be cautious,” said Kristin, “but he’s just a homeless boy.” “You are too trusting,” “It balances out your paranoia.” |
