So Explain It To Me Again
“Okay so explain it to me again,” I say as I peer into the belly of the beast. All the wiring and harnesses look daunting and I am unsure which one I am supposed to touch to make the proper connection.

Ike explained it again as he rubbed his bandaged arm. Slower this time and I tired not to feel like an idiot as I followed each of his instructions one step at a time.

“You don’t have to worry. I haven’t seen anyone blow it up yet -”

“But there’s always a first time for everything.”

I glared over at Alec who was leaning casually against the side of the machinery. He chuckled.

I blew out an agitated breath and returned to the task at hand. When I finished I stepped back and threw my hands in the air. “I think I did it.”

“Think?” Alec repeated lifting a brow.

I stuck my tongue out at him. The man was infuriating. I’d love to blow him up.

“Alright you two. Let’s try this. I’d like to get back on track and heading for home. We stay here much longer we’ll be food for the wildlife.”

I shuddered as I followed the others back into the craft and hit the starter button. After a momentary hesitation, it flared to life. I jostled the gear shift into place and hit the accelerator. We were off.
