Uhh... 1 Chinese knotting 2 Chinese 3 bothering people 4 cartwheels 5 drawing 6 dancing (?) 7 Just Dance on Wii 8 making things up 9 Photoshop! 10 Making movies videos 11 procrastination I loooooove Chinese knotting! It's so fun to make something out of string. I haven't made anything in a while, though, so maybe I should start it up again. I have a few bags of string to use up, and many more bags of beads, too. Did I ever mention that I found last year's missing stash of string? I think I'm good at Chinese- I love learning the language, which might also be why I'm good? I find it easy, probably because I enjoy learning it. Makes enough sense, yeah? Our Chinese case has become infamous in the Humanities department at school. I went in last week to see if I could talk with the lady at the head of the humanities counseling department (I went straight to the top, didn't bother with the East Asian Lang/Lit department), but she wasn't there. The girl at the front desk was in my Education Peer Mentor training class, and she had also heard of our situation. Guess word travels fast. Now, I'm waiting to hear back about my triple major. I've been doing cartwheels since elementary school- when I saw Max and Emmy do it on Dragon Tales. Yeah, I'm good at them. Now, if only I could do them without hands... I didn't really take my drawing seriously until mid-high school. Probably junior year-ish, when I took Digital Animation. It really challenged my drawing skills and I think that's when I would say I turned presentable. I'm good a certain types of dance. Tap being one. Jazz is okay-ish, still presentable. Ballet is a bit better than jazz, maybe? I like lyrical. Modern, I've never done much of. Hip-hop is a big no. I Just Dance. I rock at it. Not trying to be boastful, but yeah. I played a new Just Dance at Mary's house once, and I beat her, even though she's played the game many times already. I'm pretty good at making things up and pretending things. I mean, I made up Gregory Smith for the sole purpose of buying a car. And it worked. I got a very good price for Mom. I love photoshop too. I learned it in high school, for yearbook, and I've loved using it ever since! I make pretty much all my pictures on there. Video creation is fun! It may take a while, but I think the end result is worth it. Who isn't good a procrastination? |
Honestly? not much. Let's see what I can list: 1 performing by myself in front of other people 2 being in an accident 3 death/dying 4 horror movies 5 failing 6 improvisation (that kinda goes with #1, doesn't it?) 7 dancing hip hop- I seriously don't have "it" 8 high amounts of pain 9 blood 10 breaking a bone/part of my body That was a difficult list to compile. Everything from "dancing hip hop" downwards really made me think. I was thinking about the first one in the shower, actually and even thinking about it made me freeze up. The hip hop workshop had an improv circle where everyone had to go in and do something by themselves. And I totally froze up. Even though I was the last one and had plenty of time to think while everyone else went. I actually thought of bailing at that point. is #2 an irrational fear? I dunno. It's a recent thing I've developed, honestly, after I stopped travelling together with my family. #3.... yeah. I used to have dreams about people dying, and that scared me. I still have them sometimes. O.O 4. I don't do horror movies. Plain and simple. 5. Mostly failing comes with the disappointment of "we pay all this money for you to succeed and now you go and fail?!" 6. Improv. Yeah, enough said with #1. 7. Hip hop- okay, I'm not scared to do hip hop- I mean, I went to the workshop. But after that, I developed a hesitancy towards it. yeah? 8.Blood. Eww. I can't stand the sight of it. and it creeps me out. bleah! 9. I have low pain tolerance (I think I switched 8 and 9, but oh well) 10. Mostly this is from doing dangerous stuff- like climbing trees, aerial (no handed) cartwheels, handstands, etc. |
...depends how you define "use". Listing ALL the apps I've got would take way too long, though. So I guess I'll list the productive ones (for school or such) 1 Dictionary.com 2 merriam-webster 3 google translate 4 Google Drive 5 Google Docs 6 Google Slides 7 Google Sheets 8 One Drive 9 Habitica 10 myfitnesspal 11 Facebook 12 messenger 13 Google Hangouts 14 Groupme 15 Sleepbot 16 Noom Coach 17 amazon music 18 starbucks 19 Waze 20 Google Maps 21 Adobe Photoshop express 22 Adobe illustrator draw 23 Qantas 24 FlightAware 25 Instagram 26 Skype 27 Snapchat 28 Google Chrome 29 Bing 30 Bing Rewards 31 Puffin Browser 32 Gmail 33 Graphing calculator 34 Journal 35 My Secret Diary (I used it to store stories before it became unreliable and not saving my stuff) 36 Most of the standard Apple iPhone apps 37 Viber My iPad is organized in such a way that at first sight, I seem very, very diligent and productive: school apps, Chinese-English dictionaries, translating apps, calculator, dictionary, etc. But then... swipe the screen and it shows all my games. And I have many, many games. Most of the brain games, though. |
Well, BAMP called- again- and interrupted what would've been a double-list entry. So, to continue the entry from before, here are my favorite games, also in no particularly order: 1 Gems of War 2 Smoothie Moves (webkinz) 3 2048 4 Candy Crush- all 5 RGBeats (plugging for my YB editor- get it for free on the Apple store!) 6 大家来抱歉 (Chinese Monopoly) 7 Monopoly 8 Rummikin 9 Diner Dash 10 Solitaire 11 Puzzles and Dragons 12 Hatch the Dragon (Webkinz) 13 Harlie's Hazardous City (Miss O) 14 Puzzle Craft (has nothing to do with Minecraft if you were wondering) I also just spent about an hour trying to beat a little kid's 2048-copy game score on Webkinz. And I beat it, but since my account isn't paid anymore, it doesn't count. But I think I've kinda just proved I'm a nerd or something. All these games are puzzle/strategy games, except... actually, except none of them. |
Mom let me and sis play on the computer from quite an early age, actually, though we never played online until late elementary school/early middle school. And even then, it was maybe 30-45 minutes. So I guess this list will eventually evolve into favorite games, too, since most of the websites I frequented were gaming websites. Favorite websites (in no particular order): 1 Miss O and Friends 2 Webkinz 3 Poptropica 4 WdC! 5 hi5.com.au (it's long gone, actually. The site closed down because the admin couldn't afford it anymore, or something like that) 6 Pinterest 7 Youtube/Netflix/Hulu 8 macrameschool.com (for knotting patterns and projects) 9 Facebook? More like the games on Facebook that interest me, though.... 10 alluc.ee (To watch my TNS) 11 family.ca (to watch TNS and Lost and Found)- I'm slowly starting to really like almost all the shows on that site, and that's NOT good. okay, so Miss O was pretty much the first site I ever "joined", except this was with Mom's permission. And I would play on that site every single time I had a free period in high school. Keep this in mind: I joined this in elementary school. With my former best friend. and I used the points to enter raffles- and I actually won a few things. 3 times. A Hannah Montana CD, Tinkerbell DS game, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh DVD. Webkinz was definitely a middle school phase/craze thing. Sis and I played- we had so many Webkinz! Koala, panda (from a trading card), pink poodle, dragon, hippo, golden retriever, brown lab (I think), duck, snowman, Siamese cat... the list goes ON! We even got Mom and Uncle involved. Mom LOVED Atomicolicious (Sp?) and playing against us or uncle. Poptropica-- sis and I played this, too. I think it was before webkinz and Miss O. Usually, we'd just play it at the airport at qantas club when we waited for our flight to be called. WdC- no explanation needed, is there? hi5.com.au- I guess this was my "introduction" to exploring the internet on my own. I made two accounts there, actually. Might've had 3? I made 2 previously because I couldn't remember the password the first one. And the third was the same reason, except it was much later. I found out the site is pretty much gone, but it was the "unofficial fan site" for Hi-5. Pinterest- pretty pictures and bracelet/knotting patterns. Plus some really good, bad-for-you recipes. Youtube/Netflix/Hulu: Hi-5, H2O, The Next Step, Lost and Found, dance.... macrameschool- knotting projects! Facebook- the games, too many! Happy pets, sorority life, wetopia, cityville, farmville, etc... alluc.ee- it's the new free tv, I guess. family.ca- Canada may have some kooky people (sorry, any canadians who may happen to read this, this is my experience), but their TV shows are pretty awesome. |
Books you particularly enjoyed: I'm just gonna list the series, because listing every single book in the series would take a while. 1 Scarecrow series (Matthew Reilly) 2 7 Ancient Wonders series (Matthew Reilly) 3 The Great Zoo of China (Matthew Reilly) 4 Hider, Seeker, Secret Keeper (Elizabeth Kiem) 5 Private series (James Patterson) 6 Cyrano de Bergerac (Edmond Rostand) 7 Daughter of Twin Oaks (Lauraine Snelling) 8 The Choice (Carrie Woods Fisher) 9 Casanova Killer (Tallulah Grace) 10 Miami Requiem: A Crime Thriller (J.B. Turner) This has made me realize how little I've been reading since I started school! Cyrano de Bergerac was probably my favorite core-reading in high school. The nose insults were amazing. And that was also where I started getting desperate for book titles- the last 4 were all free on iBooks at some point or another, and so I got them. Which leads me to... Books in your 'to be read' pile (virtual or literal):' Let's start with Kindle, shall we? I have Kindle First, so I can get a free book each month, but I haven't really read any of the books yet: 11 It had to be Him (Tamra Baumann) 12 The Glassblower (Petra Durst-Benning) 13 The Queen's Poisoner (Jeff Wheeler) 14 My Princess (W.H. Benjamin) 15 The Secret Healer (Ellin Carsta) 16 Little Sister (Giles O'Brien) 17 An Innocent Client (Scott Pratt) 18 Time Will Tell (J.A. Roth) 19 Daughter of Sand and Stone (Libbie Hawker) 20 The Einstein Prophecy (Robert Masello) Don't get me started on Google Books, I have way too many, so I'll only list a few that I can see right now 1. The Jungle Book 2. The Secret Adversary 3. Three Musketeers (totally not on purpose!) 4. Tales of Peter Rabbit 5. The Return of Sherlock Holmes iBooks: A Dance of Dragons (Kaitlyn Davis) Stone Devil Duke (K.J. Jackson) Shore Lights (Barbara Bretton) Gone (Christine Kersey) 19 books? I think I'm set for a very long while |
Well, I have about 20 minutes, so let's see what sort of bucket list I can come up with. 1 See Hi-5 live (obviously) 2 Create a video game from scratch 3 visit Europe 4 Meet a fellow WdC-er (not including shadowfanglerz because I referred her ) 5 Get my mom some sort of amazing present she would never expect for some occasion or another (very, very difficult) 6 Watch So You Think You Can Dance (or any other live dance competition) 7 Properly learn hip hop 8 Get published for creative stuff- not listicles and such! 9 Audition for a live TV talent show (to get me less shy) 10 Get a teaching degree 11 Win a T-shirt design contest Some of these seem kinda trivial, but I have my reasons for most of these. 1. life-long fan here? (literally since the 1997 premiere ) 2. I'm working on something. "working" being the operative word, and meaning "tried to use a game engine thing and failed after 2 tries of 5 minutes each" 3. I've been to North America, Asia, and Australia. Europe is next! And then South America. And maaybe not Antarctica- I need the . 4. 5. Mom and I were talking about what I'd do with my first paycheck- and honestly? I have no clue. I told her something she'd want to hear. 6. I'm getting all dance-y again, can you tell? 7. Tutting. 8. Stevie (from Hi-5) has published his own SERIES of kids' books, called Superdudes. If he can do it, why can't I? {e:determined} 9. Yeah, about that. I wanted to audition for The Voice when it first came out when I was in high school.... and now I just want to do it because the thought of it scares the daylights out of me. 10. I'm (almost) a triple major now, and I'll have two concentrations for my education degree- digital media, and elementary education. The other two majors are psychology and Chinese lang/lit. I love all three things, though maybe I'd love it better if I were in a computer science-y major. 11. I submitted a pretty cool design for Lady Antebellum's Golden tour (they had a contest and I entered) but I didn't win. So now I'm making that a goal- win a t-shirt design contest! And now, off to dance. |
