Something I see far too often.
PEOPLE IN PRISONS
People in prisons spend a lot of time writing in places where there's nothing to do
Some write for hours, some write for years, some people never get through
Writing is their way of talking, it's the only way they know to share
No one listens in prison when you are the only one there.
Many people write because they like to, or they feel they have something to say
About the world that is all around them or a world that has gone away
Maybe it's a way of escaping, like taking a walk outside
Stepping across the boundaries that are set inside their minds
When you write the whole world sees you, and looks you square in the eye
But they will never know you, though you let them come inside
You tell them something special you no longer wish to hide
You've found someone who'll listen in the prisons of your mind.
