Poem for the prompt: "End your poem or story with the following words: That's a shame."
You may have heard my name,
or tales of what I became,
but I never sought the fame,
I was forced into the game.

Life started rather tame,
just living was my aim,
til I won the crowds acclaim,
and set their hearts aflame.

With success, ease just came,
and I fell in with a dame,
to my heart she laid claim,
but it all went up in flame.

My fame ended the same,
I think I was to blame,
I never saw outside the frame,
my excuses all so lame.

Now my name makes them proclaim,
"That's a shame."
