INDEPENDENCE DAY At the Veterans Hospital, is the way I spent my day Most times I refer to it as just the plain VA. There is nothing plain about it, I can truly say, They always help me out, If there is a way. My Physician is a lady the best that you will see, Finding out exactly what is wrong with me. I’ve had her as a Doctor for over nineteen years, Treats my physical problems and calms away my fears. Always asks about the family, has ever been so very kind, More than a Doctor, she’s a friend here in my mind. About the entire hospital, I really should say more, It is the best place I’ve been treated, of that I am sure. Meeting other Veterans there, to talk to them is great For themselves most feel no sorrow, consider it was fate. Coming up the drive, many choose a bit to lag, Each side of the road, every few feet is our Flag. All the people that I talked to agreed that war is no fun, Still they were proud to be Veterans, each, and every one. I drove a hundred miles but it was worth the ride, What I heard from others, reflected my own pride. When I listened, to what Veterans had to say, About their own feelings, on this Independence Day.
