Bromyn and Thimpin meet Spyter.
Chapt 3

A Thing To Keep

Like minnows in a pond
they ran hither and yon
through tunnels so dark they couldn't see their own hands.
Still the screeching grew louder and closer and scarier,
And then Bromyn shouted,"It's time to make our stand."

Stopping and turning on a dime,
Bromyn led Thimpin and began to climb
five steps, six steps, and then a quick turn to the left side.
Lighting the lantern and sitting down and looking around
Bromyn said,"This will do.", looking satisfied.

From a bag on his back
Bromyn took a small sack
just as the screeching scream stopped down below.
A net of silver chain glittered and tinkled and chimed
and as he lifted it from the sack it began to glow.

It was beautiful beyond compare
and Bromyn tossed it through the air
and it hit Thimpin in the chest and fell at his feet.
He looked down at the net and to Bromyn and then back down.
"Pick it up", Bromyn said,"It's yours to keep."

Then he winked at Thimpin slyly
and stepped to the edge quietly
motioning for him to come take a look.
Picking up the net he looked over and down and stared
and was so frightened by what he saw that he shook.

A monstrous spider was climbing
and with a thousand eyes-a-shining
it was twice as big as Thimpin's dog Dozer.
it's ol' mouth was clicking and dripping and screeching
as it's eight hairy legs brought it closer.

Seeing Thimpin the monster roared,
"I've been waiting for you Thord,
and now you and Barkthell will know time no more!"
Thimpin trembled where he stood and shook and fell,
but Bromyn picked him up from off the cavern floor.
