I Was There

Just a little poem I wrote a month ago.

You are, indeed, foolish. You do not realize just how long I've been here.
I was here long before you were born.
I was here long before your parents were born.

Before the fall of Rome.
Before the days of Christ.
Before the wheel and the fire.
I was there.

In the beginning of time, when God said "Be" and it was so. I was present.
I was present before God was even born.
In fact, he is but a petty child to me.
A passing thing.

Since time immemorable, I've been present.
Older than the universe
Older than God.
Before time began, when there was only the void. Before birth, or before death.
I was there.
