Why is love red?

Thinking about Valentine's Day.

What color do you see on Valentines Day?
What color rose do you give to your girlfriend?
What color is love?

Why is it red?
Why is it the same color as blood?
Why does it fit so well?

It's because love is painful.
It's because broken hearts bleed on this day.
It's because that rose was once pure white.

Until it was stained by the blood of a broken heart.
Until someone died for love.
Until someone's blood painted that rose red.

That's why love is red.
