I wrote this poem after an event changed my life and my feelings for the person I love.
So you say you are broken,
Well I am here to piece your world back together again.
Where should I start?
How about I try to fix your heart,
I promise to be gentle,
and careful to put each piece into it's proper spot.
Then its onward to your head,
where I'll wash away the painful thoughts and sins.
Next I'll pick up those strong, gentle, scaring hands
and kiss them with my soft, trembling lips.
I'll spend a life time kissing each of your knuckles,
soaking up your self hate,
taking your burden of angry thoughts away.
As your hand intertwines with mine,
and your tongue dances across my lips,
my body melts into yours,
completely consumed by your warmth.
Laying in your arms,
our chests rise and fall together,
with every breath my soul blends into yours,
as we become one love again.
No longer only remembering the times of our passionate ecstasy,
for we have returned to the place where our hearts beat in sync,
where we are swimming in an ocean of the purest type of love.
And you say the words that steal my breathe away.
I gasp to recover my breathe,
and you are there to fill me with life,
you lift me up to soar through the sky.
I try to runaway,
but you chase me through the stars,
you take my hand at just the right moment,
catching me before I fall into a never ending black hole.
You have always been good at that,
being there to catch me at the last second.
Standing there on the edge,
patiently waiting for me to break apart so that you can be the one to pick up the pieces,
to solve my puzzle.
Whenever I am in need,
you are my hero,
my savior,
my shoulder to lean on,
the arms to hold me tight,
the strength in my limbs and bones,
you are what keeps me living when the rest of my world is dead and dark.
Yet, you are my one weakness,
you know what cuts me down,
and what builds me up.
You've always known my ins and outs,
and you've always been there for the ups and the downs.
I pray to God we make it through,
for I don't know how to live without you.
That is why I know that I'm meant for you.
When all others fail and turn the other way,
we can crash into each other,
and fall back into ourselves,
into our love,
and guide one another to the future.
How does it make you feel to be my destroyer and my savior all in one?
Do you like the feel of my burning tears on the lips that you always make smile?
Do you enjoy the sight of my empty, broken eyes?
No, you strive to brush the tears away and fill those eyes with light.
But I forgive you,
and all I want to do is rediscover the true you.
So here I'll stay,
each and everyday.
