The Horse Met The Faery By The Pond

One day I met a purple faery - please don't ask me how
She was so shy and pure and true - no kiss and tells allow.

At first I thought she must be lost - she's really lost her way
What was she doing near this pond - this pond of fish today?

I didn't want her to get hurt - It's like a lion's den
It's full of sharks and eels and crabs - as well as human men.

So I gently trotted forward - as only a horse could
I knew I had to guide her - guide her out of this wood.

As I approached she said to me - "don't worry I'm not lost
Someone I know, dared me to come - that's why our paths have crossed.

So I'm here to find some new friends - and just to have a see"
And because she was teetotal - I offered her some tea!

And so we sat around the pond - our talk became quite deep
Of love and life, and all that's right - and why we could not sleep.

I sensed she was a worrier - and things just bothered her
I wanted to make all things right - make people cease their stare.

Then I circled her with tealights - and lit them all quite bright
This faery garden had no demons - no demons tonight!

And with that warmth she unfolded - her wings that did arise
This wasn't just a faery - but an angel in disguise.

I even built a little swing - just so her thoughts could flow
I also felt, I'm getting through - she knew I'm no gruffalo.

The chats were great, the mood was nice - and my time passed us by
But sadness soon raised up its head - I knew that she would fly.

I did feel though, I did feel - she'd be back another day
But it's not fair, when someone nice - just has to go away.

And with that off she went and she looked back - oh so forlorn
Just as I changed from that dumb horse - into her Unicorn.
