Josh let out a drawn out sigh as he started to go towards the door. "Jenny, you owe me." With his smaller body, he had to make sure to take his time going down the steps and felt his hair hitting his back with each step he took. As her got to the bottom, Lynn seemed ready to go as she was holding a box of items, which looked like paper towel tubes and craft paper. Feeling his curiosity piqued, he turned to his temporary mom. "What's in the box." He asked while standing on his tip toes to try and get a peek inside, causing him to trip and nearly knocking her over.
"You're such a curious little kitty, aren't you." Lynn giggled while helping him up. "For your information, we're doing a craft for Thanksgiving holiday and making turkey centerpieces." After seeing that he was alright, she continued. "I'm going to go put this in the car and we will be leaving. So make sure that you get your jacket on so that you're ready to go." She opened the door and the cold wind came inside causing a shiver to course through his body. Nodding his head he went back up stairs, thinking that Kira's jacket will be in her closet.
"Jenny, I need to find a jacket." He called out to the hallway. "Mommy and me are leaving to go to..." He stopped after hearing the words coming out of his mouth and the incorrect grammar bothered him. Groaning, he went into Kira's room and noticed that it seemed more fitting for an elementary school student. Gone were the video game posters and consoles, in their place were several Disney Princess posters, a single Nintendo console and a plethora of stuffed animals. The shade of purple nearly made him sick, but he had a task at hand. "Right the jacket." Opening the closet door, the amount of clothes made his head spin. 'Where's the jacket?' He thought to himself looking through the closet.
As he was busy looking, he heard the bedroom door open. Turning around, he could see Kira and Jenn standing in the doorway with a look of wonderment as she got a good eyeful of Kira's room. "Jenn, sweetie, that book is no joke." Kira replied as she looked around. "This almost looks like my room from when I was in 3rd grade. Hmm... I wonder." She quickly made her way to the closet and look around in one of the plastic drawers that seemed to hold old clothes, some children's games, and other various toys. "Here it is." She announced bringing out a dark blue stuffed elephant that seemed to have seen better days.
"Holy..." Jenn nearly swore as she quickly went to see it closer. "Is that Mr. Tubby Trunks? I thought mom accidentally gave it to the Goodwill years ago." She could see Kira starting to tear up at seeing her old friend again and she brought it up to her face and brushed it against her face.
Their reunion was cut short with Lynn's voice calling out from the door. "Kira, what are you doing up there?"
Knowing that Lynn wouldn't want to see Jenn and her 'boyfriend' in an 8 year old girl's room, Josh quickly jumped into gear and went to the door to call back down stairs. "I'm looking for my jacket."
Hearing a frustrated sigh coming from a distance and a door opening up, Lynn called back up to her oblivious 'daughter'. "Your jacket is in the coat closet. Let's go or we're going to be late. You know how I don't trust drivers in this kind of weather."
Looking over at Jenn and Kira who seemed to give him the look that he should listen. "You go and I will do some research, but I won't do anything unless you want me to. The last thing that I want is for you to get any younger or something else to happen."
"Come on Kira, we need to go." Lynn continued to call out, clearly starting to get annoyed at having to wait for so long.
Nodding his head, Josh turned to leave. "I will hold you to that Jenny." He gave a faint smile, knowing that he could trust his girlfriend. Making his way down the stairs once again, Josh could see Lynn holding a while jacket with what looked to have a pair of cat ears on the hood. 'Great.' He thought to himself as he let Lynn put it on him. However, as the coat slipped on him, he could feel the softness of the faux fur envelop him.
"With that, lets head out." Lynn announced as she held the door open for Josh to walk out. As soon as he hit the cold air, Josh marveled at how warm the coat seemed to be. Initially he thought the flimsy jacket wasn't going to do much with the cold air, but he found it warmer that the jackets that he usually wore to school. As he was about to open the passenger door, he was soon stopped by Lynn. "What do you think you're doing, little miss?" Not knowing what she was talking about, Josh turned and looked at her.
Letting out an exasperated sigh, Lynn opened up the back door to reveal a purple and grey booster seat. "Are you serious?" He asked looking at Lynn.
"Pennsylvania state law says that you can't sit in the front seat until you're 13. So in you go." She demanded and knowing that he didn't really have a choice, Josh climbed in and sat in the seat. Expertly, Lynn buckled him in and soon they were on their way.
