"It's something rather personal about me," said Cosyt. She laughed, and Melona tried not to watch as the professor's sizable chest bounced. "You know, it's so embarrassing for me to talk about myself, like for the gods' sakes, I'm your teacher, and--" she shook her head. "But right now I need to talk to someone, and well," she shrugged. "You were the only one who showed up."
Melona felt a little sad that that was the only reason why Cosyt was confiding in her, but she let the professor continue.
"You see," said Cosyt, "Given my--unfortunate condition, I'm in a rather unique situation compared to the rest of my colleagues. I might not be the only person who a normal human mage here, but I am--" she gestured at herself "--probably the only mage here whose very existence is a security risk."
Melona's heart ached. Cosyt had been so brave when she decided to stay here, so kind, so--
"It's alright, Professor," said Melona. She stood up and, with trembling legs, walked over to Cosyt and placed a hand on her shoulder. Well, tried to. She mostly got a handful of slim, toned tricep. "You can tell me."
Cosyt's smile turned warmer as she looked down at Melona. Melona could almost see the pep and happiness fighting back against the mass of--shame? Anger? Fear?--that filled the woman's being. "Thank you, Mel," she said. "You see, it's--"
