"The mana-supressing treatments that the school gives me," said Cosyt, "They're beginning to fail."
Melona paused. Those treatments were, according to rumor, the only thing that let Professor Cosyt keep her job or, potentially function in society. "Oh no," was all that she could manage to say.
"Indeed," said Cosyt. "It's nothing major yet, but I'm noticing some of the more infernal elements of my being starting to come through. When I'm out and about, I can smell the sins and desires of the school. It's so had to ignore, Melona, like a cloud of lust coming off of the students and professors alike. It makes me--there isn't a word to describe what I feel when I sense that. It's a hunger, a need, a reflex that takes every ounce of my willpower to stop, so that when I come back to my office I need to lock the door and--" She appeared to blush; with purple skin it was hard to tell. "And it makes it more difficult to control my impulses." She gestured with one hand towards her other. She had a death grip on her tail, which writhed towards Melona."
"I see," said Melona. "But can't they just increase your dosage?"
Cosyt shook her head. "If they did, I'd start losing my magic. I was at just the perfect dose to suppress the infernal corruption without affecting my spellcasting ability. Even if I did, we'd just need to increase the dose even more at a later point. My curse, it seems, is building up a resistance to my attempts at treating it."
Melona looked down as Cosyt's tail, wondering if it'd be that bad if the professor just let it spring towards her. "What are you going to do?" asked Melona.
"Make no mistake, I want to stay here," said Cosyt. "There is another way to treat my condition."
