You heard a soft voice called out to you as you looked side to side at the source of the voice. Hearing the voice repeating the phrase again, you looked and saw a head of a pale looking girl with point ears and white braided hair that kept short. When you noticed her, she looked at you with a melancholy smile.
"If I'm being honest, a bit mixed." you said.
"How so?" the elf girl asked.
"Well. I'm pissed that I lost my body and far from home but a part of me is excited for the adventure I'd be having." you said.
"That's surprising out of all the heads I hear about here say."
"Yeah. I'm glad to be away from the normal stuff at home but still a bit homesick knowing that I may not return." you said.
"Hmm hmm. I mostly grieve over losing everything." the elf head said.
"Oh?" you asked.
"I was an elf adopted to a lord's family and was said to marry a close associate of ours. Few days before the wedding, the dullahan Mona appeared and claimed the heads of my family and the family of my fiance. Since everyone but I were just human heads, they were either stored into the box in the back or managed to get sold. I still remain due to my price." the elf said. "Of 5 rubies!"
"The lady in front said I cost like 1 ruby." you said.
"You must be a magic user or something. I'd say your beauty is average as well as your magic. But perhaps you managed to charm the owner of this store to raise up your price." the elf said.
"Exactly. My name is Brooke by the way." you said.
"Alwine." the elf said. "I do hope we get along during our stay here."
"And thank you... Brooke right?" said another head.
You turned to see a buff looking head with tan skin and shaggy red long red hair. You gave a whistle as you somehow look like she can flex her muscles without a body. The tough looking head noticed you and grinned.
"Call me Scarlet. You seemed a bit rougher than the elf over there." she said.
"How rude for a head that cost only 1 sapphire." Alwine said.
"Hey, pretty rare for a human to cost that much!" Scarlet said. "Most human cost about 1 emerald at best. 2 or 3 if they are a head of status. I'm expensive due to my bounty and how I was a pretty infamous mercenary."
"Emphasis on pretty." you said.
"Ah shucks." Scarlet said.
"Brooke, I pray you won't be a ruffian like her." Alwine said.
"I'm a pretty kinky magical girl but I ain't a hunk like Scarlet." you said. "You look cute too."
"Thank you but uh..." Alwine said as she blushed.
"Normally I'd make a toast to new friendships but let's just say it." Scarlet said. "To getting out of this damned place!"
"To getting out of this damned place!" you cheered while Alwine repeated it meekly.
