The first thing that came to my mind when I found that the device really worked was a strange desire to shrink myself. I have always wondered what it would be like to tiny. Now I have a way to find out. There is no way of knowing if this device is safe, let alone advisable for use on humans. Nonetheless, I want to try and see what will happen. I turn the dial to the settings that should make me 1/70 of my size, roughly half an inch tall. After pointing the satellite at myself, I press the button. The red light shoots out and hits me in the chest. Instantly I become tingly. Then the room rapidly gets bigger. The shrink ray slips out of my hand and lands with a thud on the carpet — a few seconds later, my decent downward stops.
I am so small that my feet sink into the carpet, which now looks like a field of long tan grass. In front of me lies the shrink ray, many times bigger than me. I did not think of the fact that I would not have a way to get myself back to normal. Oh well, I will just have to get the help of one of my siblings. For now though, I decide to go exploring. Everything looks so different when you are only an inch tall. My room looks like an exotic landscape. I walk over to my tennis shoes. The one is turned on its side, and I can see a piece of gum stuck to the bottom. They are so big they could crush a house. Next to them lies a pair of my underwear that could make a tent.
I walk over to one of the house plants I keep in my room. The wicker pot is easy for me to climb. Inside is a jungle of green leaves and stems. I pause relief myself before continuing on. I can jump out of the pot, onto my beanbag, and slide to the floor.
