"What's this meant to be?" Carly asked as Steven set a box, wrapped up with a little bow on the kitchen counter beside her. "Steeeeven..."
"What?" Steven asked nervously. "I've done it again, haven't I?"
"It's sweet, but you're really starting to make me feel bad." Carly muttered, giving Steven a peck on the cheek. "Got it?"
"I know, I'm just trying to..." Steven muttered, letting out a sigh. "I'm like a schoolboy with his first girlfriend."
"You really are, love." Carly whispered, kissing Steven on the lips this time. "What's it this time? Another set of earrings?"
"Just open it and I'll explain." Steven insisted. As Carly turned around to unwrap that month's anniversary present, Steven wrapped his arms around her waist, setting his chin down on her shoulder. "Like it?"
"Two knives?" Carly asked, a confused look on her face as she stared at the gift's contents. "A blue one and a red one? I don't see the meaning here, love."
"When we moved in together, you said I didn't have any knives. So I..." Steven explained, trailing off. "They're terrible, aren't they?"
"They're lovely." Carly assured, picking the red one up carefully. "Are these legal? They're switchblades and steak knives, love. We're not-"
"The company's down in Birmingham and they've a good reputation. Apparently. Although Magic-Knife is a stupid company name if you ask me."
"Are they any sharp?" Carly asked, lightly prodding her fingertip with the end of the red knife. "Odd."
"What is?"
"I don't feel it." Carly muttered, bringing it up closer to her face. "Not at all, like there's nothing touching it. It's absolutely gorgeous..."
"I'm glad it looks nice at least." Steven sighed, reaching for the blue knife, still in its box. As he touched it though, Carly moved, bumping against Steven, flipping the knife off the counter. What happened next was a domino effect, Carly falling over, hitting the kitchen floor with a groan, Steven frantically trying to help, Steven's face turning a pale white, his eyes wide. "Carly, don't panic."
"I'm not panicking." Carly grumbled. "I'm cut, aren't I?"
"N-No."
"You then? I'll call-"
"It just moved..." Steven muttered, his trembling hand pointing to something in Carly's peripheral view.
Carly's own face went pale as that something moved again, slowly turning around to face her. "Love, that's my leg, isn't it?" She whispered, feeling around below her knee with one hand. There was nothing, a smooth stump just where her knee ended. "It's moving when I make it move. And I can feel it..."
"You c-can?!" Steven stammered, pointing elsewhere. "What about that? Can you move or feel that?"
"What are you-" Carly began, freezing at the sight of her forearm below the elbow, hand included, laying still beside her, the red knife sitting beside it. "No, no I can't..."
"It'll just go right back on, right?!" Steven shouted, grabbing the separated arm. As Carly watched, Steven slammed it back into place, the senses returning instantly. "Did it actually-"
"It did..." Carly muttered...
Several Hours Later
"Both separate, the blue with feeling and control, the red without." Steven muttered, trying to avoid looking at the headless Carly holding her own head. "We haven't tried something yet..."
"What's that?" Carly asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Putting parts of us on each other." Steven whispered with a gulp. "Carly, should we-"
"Way ahead of you!" Carly chirped, cutting off her left arm at the shoulder with the blue knife. Humming to herself, she picked it up with the other hand and stuck it onto Steven's left elbow, shuddering as it made the connection. "I can still feel it. And control-"
"That feels weird, stop flexing." Steven ordered, staring at his new third arm. "I can feel you do things, but I can't control them..."
"But what about if I use the red knife?" Carly asked, slicing off Steven's right hand with the red knife at his wrist. Picking it up, Carly placed it on the smooth stub where her left shoulder ended. Wiggling the fingers around, she grinned. "I can feel and have control!"
"And I can feel it again. But no control." Steven grumbled. "Not a fan of that."
"Love?"
"Yeah?"
"What if I cut off a head with the red knife?" Carly asked with a gulp. "Would you..."
"Try it. And reattach me immediately if I stop talking." Steven ordered. "Anytime."
"Okay, here goes." Carly muttered, swiftly cutting off Steven's head at the base of the neck. Immediately, his body fell to the side, his head grunting as it hit the floor. "Love?!"
"I'm fine. Just feeling a bit stupid." Steven grumbled. "Can't catch myself without control."
"I can still move my arm that's on you, but that's it, it seems." Carly said with a sigh of relief. "I'll put you back now..."
The Next Morning
"Hm?" Steven grunted, his head shooting up as he awoke, a strange sensation shocking him awake. Pulling off the blanket, Steven just about screamed. Where his manhood should've been was just smooth skin, as if he was a doll of some sort. And he could feel himself pissing!! "CARLY?!"
"JUST A SEC!" Carly bellowed back, giving her borrowed member a pat down with some toilet paper. Shuddering at the strange sensation of having both sets of genitalia as she walked around without any bottoms, she left the bathroom and returned to the bedroom, where Steven was equal parts horrified and intrigued. "Still have to piss?"
"What are... I, no actually." Steven muttered, suddenly more intrigued than before. "Red knife?"
"Yeah. You were sleeping soundly, and you always winge about using the loo in the morning." Carly answered, grabbing the red knife from the nightstand on her side of the bed. "Are you upset?"
"Yes. Don't cut off pieces of me without asking next time." Steven mumbled as Carly cut his manhood off and reached over to reattach it. "That's upside-"
"Sorry." Carly apologized, turning it the right way. "Wait, are you sure?"
"I've positive!" Steven shouted, slamming it back into place. "Hmm. Yeah, I don't have to piss..."
"See?" Carly chirped. "Hey, which one of us gets these today?"
"Huh?"
"We're taking them to work, love." Carly answered. "Or I am, at least. Imagine the fun!"
"We're in the same building. We could just-"
"I suppose you're right. But wouldn't it be nice to take a knife each to start? We have lunch around the same time, we'll swap then." Carly suggested...
