Chapter #5

The pendant

    by: Unknown
It was a silver pendant, with in the middle of it a purple dark stone.

"This was given to me by an old customer of mine. She didn't want to have it anymore. She told me there were two pendants and when the pendants were worn by two people at the same time, their lives would switch with each other. She never told me what happened to the second pendant though. I assume it's somewhere out there. But be warned. Most things stay with your own body."

Vanessa didn't hear much of the story. She was absorbed by the pendant, how it looked, how it sparkled.

"Danny, pay the man." Vanessa said as she was still looking at the pendant. Danny grabbed his wallet and paid for the pendant. The creepy old man then put the pendant in a box and handed it over to Vanessa. Vanessa and Danny left the store, leaving the old man alone.

"They never learn, will they?" The old man asked out loud as he smiled and began to polish a skull made of crystal. The skull glowed for a second before it turned normal again.

Vanessa was on her way back home, the pendant in the box. She couldn't help but admire it. She had the idea of wearing it tomorrow to school. But first she needed to get past the demon. Vanessa peered out the window. The mansion was in view already. Danny grabbed the remote and pushed a button, opening the fence. They passed the fence and Danny put the car in front of the front door. Vanessa stepped out, her heart rate increasing. She opened the front door and there was James already. Vanessa could tell from his expression that the demon wasn't amused by her late arrival. Acting hypocritical as she always was late for her own appointments. Still Vanessa entered the study room. There she saw her mother sitting in front of the fire enjoying a glass of wine.

As expected Angela Crittenden wasn't happy with her daughter. But does she take away the pendant Vanessa bought?
