"Grandmother?"
Impa, whose wizened eyes were half-lidded, looked up as a young woman, who looked near identical to herself around one hundred years ago, tip-toed down the stairs next to her.
"Ah, Paya," Impa smiled as her granddaughter knelt before her. "May I help you?"
"Um, I was just letting you know that I was going to leave the village for a few hours today," Paya answered, anxiously fiddling with a loose lock of her pure white hair. "I... need some ingredients for a project I'm working on".
"Ingredients?" Impa inspected Paya's face for a moment, a knowing smile eventually spreading across her face. "Ah, I see know... Go, enjoy yourself. And if Link arrives early, I'll make sure to let him know where you are".
"G-GRANDMOTHER!" Paya blushed a vivid red, her hands whipping up to cover her face. "I-It's not like that at all! I-I'm just missing a few herbs for an elixir I'm working on!"
Impa let out a laughter as Paya rushed from the room, fingers split to allow her to see. Once she was outside, she allowed her hands to drop, revealing a slightly overcast Kakariko Village. Grey clouds rolled through the sky, the rumble of distant thunder occasionally reaching her ears.
"I should be quick, otherwise I might get stuck in a storm..." Paya mumbled to herself, making her way down the lengthy staircase leading to Impa's house. Smiling in turn at Cado and Dorian, the two Sheikah that guarded Impa's house, she paused in the centre of the village, pulling a crumpled note from her pocket. "Hearty Lizards... C-Can you even find those around here? And any monster part... W-Well, there's that Bokoblin camp south of the village. I'm certain I could take them on! Well, maybe I could..."
Before her courage could desert her, Paya rushed from the village, making sure her trusty kodachi was affixed to her belt. It had been her grandmother's weapon of choice many years ago, and while she was nowhere near as skilled as Impa had been with it, she was still rather handy with it. At the very least, if anything smaller than a Moblin attacked her, she'd be able to send them back to Ganon! Or wherever monsters came from...
