As Walden looked at the trolley choked full of food he couldn’t stop but think back to the kind woman words. Sure, he seemed to be getting pretty big but maybe she was right. Maybe he needed to grow healthier. While he thought about that he didn’t seem to realize that his hands were already grabbing food out of the trolley, bringing it to his mouth. Lost in thought he kept shoveling pastries in his mouth, chewing as fast as he could, all the while his shirt kept riding up from his stomach which began to grow rounder as it became fuller.
Suddenly a pastry fell from his grasp and landed directly under his eyes, Walden was so surprised that he stopped shoveling food and gave himself a good look. What he saw left him speechless.
‘Sheesh! I’m getting huge! Getting plump? I’m growing as big as a house. I’ve got to stop this.’
Slowly, due to all the time he had spent on that couch he began to rise, feeling every extra pound on his body weighing him down. Still he managed to stand and realized that by only doing that he was out of breath.
“Cripes!...Just how…big I…was going…to get? Have to… do something…about it.”
Worried about himself he decided that he had to do something, anything to try and lose that extra weight and, without any other ideas, he decided to start by doing some crunches.
‘It won’t get rid of all this in one session but, I’ve got to start…And I’m starting now!’
Unfortunately for him, as he began preparing himself to exercise he didn’t notice that the Witch was watching him from the doorframe that led into the kitchen. The woman had an impish smile on her face as she looked at the chubby guy on the floor.
‘And so you think you can escape it this way, don’t you?
Too bad I’ve got many aces in my sleeve.’
She stood there, silently watching as Walden tried to exercise, staring as he began to sweat profusely only by trying to do those activities. When she believed he was at his lowest point she moved forward, carrying within her arms a large platter of gooey brownies and chocolaty cookies.
The woman moved closer, kneeling down right beside Walden, strategically placing the platter so near to the sweating guy on the floor, letting the aroma from those sweets to tantalize the poor exhausted guy.
“Here what you need, dear. You gotta have some energy…have one, dear…”
Walden stared hungrily to those delicacies. He wanted SO MUCH to have them but, how could he? Didn’t he want to lose weight? He already was so big that he couldn’t afford any more.
Still, the woman could have been right. Without energies how could he exercise? And what one cookie could do as damage to his already ruined figure?
These thoughts swirled in his mind like a whirlwind, he knew that most of those were just excuses, but to refuse and keep his newly decided diet would have been so hard to do.
Couldn’t he afford to splurge one last time? What should he do?
