You desperately tried to reform and regain some small shred of your dignity as Isabella peeled you off of the floor.
Sadly, you weren’t quick enough to reform and apologise to Diane before the towering raven haired woman sighed at the sight of you, and turned towards the elevator.
Isabella carried you towards the bullpen as you stewed in frustration over how the conversation with one of your bosses just went. You had made a solid first impression with Diane, you likely wouldn’t have gotten the internship otherwise, but you felt like your latest interaction with her had soured that impression.
You had managed to fully pull yourself back together by the time Isabella reached the bullpen, standing in her palm and dusting off your suit as she walked.
Looking around the room, you could see that the bullpen was already a chaotic buzz of activity, even this early in the morning.
Interns ran back and forth delivering documents to associates who had requested them, people loudly talked to clients on the phone and not a single person seemed to even take notice of the two newest interns who had just entered the room.
Isabella rushed towards “your” desk, eager to not keep Mia waiting. Thankfully it was on the edge of the room, on the periphery of the maelstrom of rushing women, it was likely safer for you that way.
She gently placed you on the surface of the desk that had been assigned to you and another intern, next to the tiny sized desk that had been placed on top of it for your use.
“Sorry again for stepping on you and ruining your clothes earlier,” Isabella sheepishly apologised for what felt like it must have been the twentieth time today. “Good luck with your first day!”
Before you could reply, Isabella rushed off to find Mia’s office. Your last sight of her was her titanic backside straining against her tight business skirt as she rushed through the door.
Turning around to face your desk, you saw that it had some tiny sized notepads and writing implements already waiting for you. You also noticed a small, but still absolutely huge to you, tablet that was placed next to the desk. It was still so large that you would have to operate it by standing on the inputs.
Unlocking it, you realised that it had access to the M.A.R servers, this was likely how you would be expected to do your research, but using this tablet to read documents that had been scanned onto the server.
You smiled to yourself, despite having made a bad impression on the first day, and one of the partners hating the idea of having a tiny intern, it seemed that Olivia and Diane were still taking measures to make it possible for you to do your job. Likely at some expense, because this tablet couldn’t have been cheap.
You did sometimes doubt your abilities in the weeks prior to starting this internship, feeling like the partners hiring you may have have been a publicity stunt, seeing these kind of measures being taken did slightly assure you that they did at least want you to do some work for them, your position wasn’t entirely ceremonial.
Taking your seat, you began scribbling notes for what you needed to do today, making sure you wouldn’t forget anything. You noticed that Diane had pre loaded the case details, and instructed you of where to look of the server for some leads.
Not wanting to disappoint her any further, you got to work, waiting in anticipation for the woman who you would be sharing a desk with to arrive.
1) You were suddenly surprised by a stack of large, heavy books slamming down dangerously close to your desk, the impact of them causing you to be thrown from your chair and landing a few inches away from your desk.
Looking up at the new arrival, you watched as a tired looking olive skinned woman flopped down on her chair, not having noticed your presence yet.
You weren’t aware of her name yet, but you would soon learn that this woman is Priya Chandra, your new desk-mate.
2) You were soon cast in a shadow, and as you look up to see who was casting it, your face paled as you saw the looming face of Rebecca Lewis, your high school bully. She has come to mess with you before your desk-mate arrives.
3) You hear the creak of a leather chair and look up to see that your new desk-mate has arrived. (Another character)
