Chapter #3

Orcs and goblins(updated)

by: John GoodHorse Author IconMail Icon
There's a lot of ways to do orcs so I've decided that do most of them here. You got pig orcs, Warhammer style orcs/orks, LOTR orcs, WoW orcs, the All Orcs Must Die Orcs, and Elder Scrolls orcs who are just greenish elves. So I've decided to throw a mix in. It depends which tribe and where you're at.

The Steel Fang Tribe: These orcs are the oldschool pig orc like https://1d4chan.org/images/thumb/a/a0/Dn... you can find them all across Illyrium as they are very numerous. They tend to build their camps in mountainous areas and deep forests. Like many other breeds of orcs they love to wage war and raids on non-orcs and other orcs. Not too bright but not complete and total idiots. They possess an obnoxious disposition which even make other barbarous orcs not like them too much. This leads to other orc tribes using them as cannon fodder, but so does everyone else practically. Even a noble hero can strike fear into these orcs and make them flock to his banner just as much an evil wizard can awe them with his power and send them to die for him.

The Burned Hand Tribe: They're a mix between Elder Scrolls Elves and LOTR orcs. Not so much a true tribe but more of many different clans with similar characteristic. Like their inspirations they have Elven origins, created out of a cruel experiment gone wrong with many mutations. Some clans are more orc like, some are more elf like to being the point of just being buff green elves, and some are a perfect blend. They tend to be very cunning and have a dark humor. Burned Hand orcs are more successful when it comes to warfare with their higher intelligence, and many form mercenary bands out for gold and blood. It is not surprising to find one out on the outskirts of a settlement, waiting for a job to come by. Also make great drill sergeants. Their crafts aren't often beautiful, but they are pretty sturdy.

The Black Tusk Tribe: these guys are pretty much the stereotypical orcs like Warhammer Fantasy orcs, Brutal warmongering barbarians with red eyes and green skin, though you do find some outlier clans which act more like WoW orcs. They earn their name due to all their tusks being black. They are the 2nd most numerous breed of orcs, typically found all across the world of Illyrium, but they do set up shop in more northern parts of the world. Seeing an army of Black Tusk orcs on the march is viewed as a sign of misfortune and death itself in certain places of Illyrium as history is littered with many empires crumbling from these gatherings. You're more likely to see them with ogres and goblins as they feel a kinship with these creatures. They are physically the largest orcs in addition to possessing the most physical strength individually compared to other orc breeds. A Black Tusk orc values strength as the greatest virtue, and you can bet that an evil warlord will attract these orcs to his banner if they think he or she is strong.

Feel free to make up your own orc tribes too.

Goblins: There are more breeds of goblins than that can be counted in Illyrium. They are without a doubt the most numerous race on the planet with the highest fertility rate. This is countered to them living up to 30 years at the most naturally, and most races finding these greedy little fuggers to be pests. Hobgoblins of all breeds tend to live up to 50 years. They can range from Goblinslayer tier savages to domestic servants. Go crazy with the freedom.

Update: Here is a map with a continent taken over by orcs and a continent where humans fled to after getting pushed east by the orcs. https://sta.sh/0can1klf7sx the hellhound represents the fondness orcs have for the things.

You have the following choices:

1. Maybe something I can put out later

2. Character list

3. Divinities list

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
