All things considered, you wish you were doing a dungeon crawl rather than a Quest. Quests are fine and good, and you became a warrior for the fame and fortune. But given your druthers, you druther have the fortune rather than the fame. And usually a Quest is heavy on the fame and light on the fortune.
Take dragon hunting. Everyone loves the hero who saves the village from a marauding dragon. And the hero can usually eat and drink at that village's tavern for the rest of her life, all the while having the local musicians sing of her prowess. But it's the bandit who snuck into the dragon's den while the hero was killing it who makes out like a bandit.
But although taking a Quest doesn't necessarily have a big payoff on the front end, a prudent warrior will recognize it as an investment in her future.
