find and rescue a local baron's daughter

If you were a male warrior, this would be the quest that would define your life.

You would go find the daughter, who would have been kidnapped by a dragon or an evil fairy or an enchanted knight or some such, and return her to her father. He, in turn, would name you his heir, reward you with his daughter's hand in marriage, and you would have the comfortable, well off happily ever after that every peasant's son turned adventurer aspires to.

But your not a male warrior, and that's not the quest you've been saddled with. You're a female warrior, and you're chasing after the bratty younger daughter of a successful merchant who bought his title and is marrying off his daughters to older nobles with royal connections. Except one of the baron's daughters is objecting to being married off, and has run off with the son of a local peasant.

After talking to the peasant father in question, you discover his son and the baron's daughter are running off to
