Chimchar looks at you and shakes her head. “Chi cha.”
“The Shinx is gone?” you ask.
Your partner nods.
“Good,” you say with a sigh of relief. “By the way, you’re really squeezing me hard. Can you loosen your grip a bit, please?”
Your Pokémon quickly obeys, and you sigh again as the giant fist around you decreases its pressure significantly. You feel like you can breathe a lot easier, and you even manage to pull one arm free. You stroke and pat Chimchar’s fingers and hand.
“Thanks,” you say.
“Char chim chi,” she replies in her own language.
You look around briefly, taking in the sight of the forest around you. You’re right at the bottom of the canopy, so there are tons of leaves above you, branches and tree trunks all around, and the ground far below. You can catch a glimpse of Sandgem Town between the trees in the distance. You seem to be safe from wild Pokémon here, so you relax and look back to the giant primate. She’s been eying you expectantly, waiting to see if you have anything else to say.
“Well,” you begin, “I guess I should take this chance to explain why I’m so tiny, huh?”
Chimchar nods eagerly. She listens intently as you talk about your encounter with Mew and how she shrunk you. You presume your partner doesn’t know who Mew is, as she’s just a regular starter Pokémon, so you explain that Mew is immensely powerful and also very reclusive. You also say it’s incredible that you met Mew, but it will also be extremely difficult to find her again and undo your shrinking. Your partner looks dejected as you say this.
“Cha... chi chim, char?”
“Don’t worry,” you say. “I’m sure I’ll be able to find Mew eventually, especially with you helping me! We’re a great team, after all.”
Chimchar smiles and nods vigorously.
“Now, let me think... what should we do now? We could go back to the town and try getting help from some people, or the two of us could start looking for Mew immediately. The longer we wait to start hunting Mew, the more time she has to escape...”
