You didn´t had to wait for long before Professor Juniper came back with a big smile all over her face.
"Great news, your parents are fine with you working here for the next month, they hope that this will help you to grow more independent and responsible. Now for your first task..." she rubbed her chin, thinking about what would be best suited for you to start off.
"You looked quite shell-shocked before when I mentioned Sally´s parents and that you could receive a Jynx from them" recalled the Professor absently. "A lab assistant who is scared of pokemon has very limited use. We need to overcome this fear as quickly as possible, don´t you agree?"
You really didn´t like the direction this was going, but nodded your head regardless. It would look pretty bad to disappoint your new 'boss' so early on.
"Let me tell you a little bit more about Sally´s parents. It is true that they are skilled Jynx trainers, but they also provide me with massive amounts of data from their Personal Jynx Training Building. It is a vital part of my laboratory to collect and study this data in order to gain a better understanding of how all of the different training excercises affect each pokemon individually."
You nod again, quicker this time. You didn´t know Sally´s parents were actually such a big deal, but the explanation made sense so far.
"Just before you showed up they called and informed me that the newest batch of data is ready for me to pick up at the Training Building. If you ask me, that sounds like a nice and easy beginner task for my Special Junior lab assistant."
All colour drained from face as you slowly processed her words. Surely she could not be asking you to do THAT as the very first task, right? You still had nightmares from the time when you had gotten yourself trapped in that cursed building for three whole days.
"What are the other tasks I could choose from?" you asked with a shaky voice while trying to suppress the upcoming memories. There was no way in hell you were going anywhere near this terrifying smooch zone.
"What makes you think you have a choice?" Professor Juniper countered amused. "If you cannot even do such a simple task, then where do we go from here? If you are that scared of pokemon, how could you ever hope to become a successful trainer? Come on, grit your teeth and do it."
"Isn´t there anything else I could do instead?" you begged in desperation, knowing full well that Sally and her Jynx were still waiting outside for you to come back out. "Anything? Please!"
