A man, with tousled dirty blonde hair, stood nonchalantly by the Bronson-Carter driveway. He wore a slightly ruffled black business suit that moved slightly as it was lifted by the light breeze that appeared out of nowhere. His early-30-ish face was quite handsome, his jawline chiselled and peppered with small stubble dots. Danny normally would have passed him off as yet another salesman trying to swindle his way into his parents' wallets but something was off; whether it was the unnervingly eager grin on his tight lips or his dark, soulless eyes.
"Um... Hello there...Sir." Danny's palms began to sweat profusely, feelings of dread, fear and anxiety clouding his head as he stared at the mysterious stranger who'd materialised behind him. "M-May I help you?"
The stranger grinned, showing pearly whites that looked too perfect to be natural. "Oh, Daniel, no, there is nothing that YOU can help ME with, my dear boy," the stranger replied in a deep tenor voice that gave Danny chills down his spine.
"H-How did you kn-know my name?" he nervously questioned, his pitch increasing along with his nerves.
"Mr Bronson, I have been observing you for a while now, following as you've grown and shaped into a young man, a young man with uncanny potential. One of only a few that can successfully harness an ancient ability that has been utilised by countless generations since the dawn of time." He spoke casually, as if revealing this kind of information was unimpressive, just a daily occurrence.
"Erm, okay," Danny said, slowly backing away towards his front door."I think you've got the wrong guy, mate. Pfft! I mean, 'ancient ability'! No, nothing special about me, just regular old Danny Bronson."
The man now walked slowly forward with his hands hidden tucked inside of his pockets. "We both know that you are FAR from ordinary, Daniel. In fact, you are incredibly EXTRAordinary! Come with me and I will help you to embrace and master your ability..."
'Hell no, I'm not going ANYWHERE with you!' Danny yelled inside of his head. As he got within two steps of the door he patted his pocket, only to find his key not in there. 'CRAP!' he thought as he looked towards the tangled thorn bushes and the set of keys that were sitting patiently on top.
As the man edged closer he removed his hands from his pockets, revealing large , hairy knuckles. "Daniel, please," he begged, "just allow me to explain myself..."
Daniel made a split second decision and charged past the man, bumping shoulders with the stranger and sending them back a few yards as he picked up the keys and ticked them away. "Leave me alone before I call the police on you, you CREEP!"
Danny ran away, no real aim except to get as far away from that guy as possible. The man meanwhile cursed in an ancient tongue under his breath. "Ah, stupid child!" he moaned as he watched Danny scamper away. "I need to locate him and inform him of the severity of the current predicament; I just hope the Opposition doesn't find him before I do..."
