After about five minutes, Danny stopped and clutched his knees, struggling to get oxygen back into his lungs. Although he certainly wasn't fat, he hadn't done regular exercise in weeks and doing nothing than playing video games and cramming junk food into his system hadn't helped to put him back into shape.
'Damn, I used to do this type of stuff all the time before,' he thought to himself.
He breathed heavily as he considered his next move; he pondered going to one of his friends houses but shot it down when he remembered that Rick always slept in late on the weekends and Gazza was always playing football or basketball on Sundays. He seriously considered the train station until he realised that in his haste to try out his powers he hadn't taken any money with him. Danny's last choice was the park but that was a no-go as well- the strange man could easily spot him out in the open expanse.
As he continued to think about his options, a small, white hatchback pulled up by the side of the road beside him and rolled down the driver's side windscreen. Inside the car was a man with wild orange hair and a black cap pulled over his face. "Uber for a 'Daniel Bronson', ordered by your mom," the man said dryly.
'Oh, thank you Mum,' he whispered as he went round and set in the back passenger seat. If I had to walk, I would have died!'
Meanwhile, the driver watched Danny settle into the backseat. He quickly took of his cap and shook his long ginger mane, pulling it out from his face to reveal eyes, not dark and cold like the stranger, but glossy and red with something resembling a flame twinkling in place of the pupils. He smiled as Danny strapped in his seatbelt. "Alrighty, let's get going," he said.
