Cloe placed the strange bottle onto the counter, sloshing it's bright orange contents. It almost looked like one of those wide bottom flasks from your old chemistry class back in highschool. The cork on top of it's narrow stem only solidified the look.
"You're giving me what? A potion?" You couldn't hide the slight level of mockery in your voice, but it only seemed to make Cloe smile wider.
"Well, yes. What do you think?" She continued to look at you intently.
You cocked your head, waiting for her to bust out laughing. When it became obvious she seemed intent on an answer, you managed to say, "I mean. I suppose it depends what you want me to do with it?"
Now it was Cloe's turn to cock her head. "Well, drink it of course!"
You looked at the neon green contents of the flask. Wait. Hadn't it just been orange? "You want me to drink this?"
"Well of course! It would be a bit messy to do anything else with it!"
The liquid was now a deep purple. "I mean, aside from how I have zero idea what that gunk could possibly be, isn't this an antique store? How old is that stuff? Is it even safe to drink?"
"Absolutely!" Cloe said, tapping the glass, "I just brewed it this morning though, so there's no risk there."
Before your eyes, the hue of the liquid brightened into a scarlet. It was pretty, like watching a rose bloom. Almost instinctively, you began to reach for the flask but stopped yourself. "So, if I drink this I get a job?"
Cloe just nodded in return.
Perhaps if you were in a normal state of mind, you might inquire into such things as what that would entail or how much you'd be paid, but Cloe was right before. It was calling to you. You wanted to drink this odd liquid, and you weren't entirely sure why.
Popping the cork off, you gave the bottle a small whiff. It smelled nice - sort of flowery. Tipping it into your mouth, you found the taste was even better. It was like the best sweet tea you've ever had in your life, and you were honestly sad that there was only a mouthful. Placing the empty bottle on the counter, you grinned at Cloe. "So when do I start?"
Cloe grinned back. "Right now! C'mon back!"
As you followed her into the back area, away from the other customers, you weren't entirely prepared for the changes that were about to beset you. But what type of potion was about to take effect?
