You searched among the crowd until your eyes landed on a purple mare serving glasses of lemonade. You could feel the chalky texture of your dry throat, your tongue pleading for something refreshing to abate the effects of the summer sun.
Rummaging through your satchel, you produced a small coin purse, giving it a rustle to make sure you had even one bit inside. In fact, you had three.
The lemonade was only a bit for a glass, so you managed to wade through the crowds and sidled up to the stall, the mare’s grinning face greeting you.
“Would you like some lemonade?” Her voice was as sweet as the drink she was selling. Your eyes wandered to the berry cutie mark on her flank, wondering for a second whether she ought to be selling grape juice instead.
You nodded, slightly out of breath, and she poured some lemonade from the glass, letting a couple of ice cubes tinkle against the rim.
“That’ll be one bit!” She announced enthusiastically, outstretching a hoof in your direction.
