Chapter #2

Taking Care of Business

by: Bobo the Hobo Author IconMail Icon
Oh, the booming and bustling Business District of Valentine.

Lots of different corporations around here, each with their own story...

***

Gilbert & Heil is one of the founding companies that helped put Valentine on the map. Once upon a time, anyway. Once its founders passed on and their acute business acumen was no longer available, its grasp slipped a bit. This is a good and bad thing depending on who you ask. Naturally, if you ask the new boss, Carol Polluck, it's a bad thing. They do a little bit of everything, sort of a jack of all trades company, and have a lot of staff to offer. However, they're starting to feel the squeeze when it comes to their newfound rival in...

Yeng Distribution, which is a subsidiary of the Yeng Corporation. They mostly peddle product to the good people of Valentine, and what they're peddling is good old-fashioned mass-produced produce. They're working on supplying every major restaurant in the city, and offering jobs that come in either blue or white collar. There are rumors that everything isn't as peachy keen as Branch Manager Fukuda Hinamizawa claims, despite helping bring unemployment to an all-time low and feeding the hungry folks of Valentine. But what are rumors, anyway?

Little Bake Shop on Main, however, has been struggling to find its foothold. Owner and founder, Ronnie Wilson, just doesn't have the head for business that co-founder Penny Simon does. And unfortunately, her insistence on "good old-fashioned" baked goods doesn't seem to have the niche that she would have hoped to have found in a town like Valentine. If things don't pick up for them soon, it'll have to close down!

Bean Machine, though, has found lots of success! All this foot traffic—lunch breaks and the like from those busy number crunchers—has led to lots and lots of people wanting coffee. Mo and her baristas couldn't be happier with all the money that they're raking in. If anything, there's too much business! They're always looking for new hires!

You have the following choices:

1. Gilbert & Heil

*Noteb*
2. Yeng Distribution

3. Little Bake Shop on Main

4. Bean Machine

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
