You both stopped talking as Rina returned with two large trays carrying your orders, smiling politely. "Here is your calming tea and a root leaf salad, Gina." Calmly, she said. "And here is your vegan burger with potato slices and milk, Joe." She took a step back and asked, "Will there be anything else?"
"Not now, thank you." politely, you said. "How long are you working till?"
"I'm actually off now." smiling, Rina replied. "I just wanted to make certain you got your meals in a timely manner."
"We appreciate that." Shyly, Joe said. As if sensing Rina's awkwardness, she asked, "Care to join us?"
"You don't mind?" Surprised, Rina asked.
"I heard mom tell Gina that there is safety in numbers." Blushing, Joe said.
You and Rina giggled as she then sat down between you two. "Have you discovered anything new since becoming a girl?" Curious, Rina asked.
Joe winced. "I feel weak, near deaf and blind." Softly, she replied. "That alone makes me feel vulnerable." She sighed. "On the other hand, I feel strangely energized and I have never felt so flexible or nimble."
"That energy you are feeling is your magic, Joeanna." Bemused, you explained. "Also, witch boys have certain advantages over witches that even things out."
"A witch boy's magic manifests itself in his physical attributes and senses." Calmly, Rina explained. "A witch turned into a boy would be stunned as everything would seem far louder and brighter..."
"Also, a witch turned boy would not know his own strength as he would be several times stronger as well." Ruefully, you added. "This is partially why witches get a taste of being transformed."
"Why aren't witch boys trained in special schools?" Curious, Joe asked.
"Those who are not of chaotic blood are." Serious, Rina replied. "They must learn to control their physical prowess so they do not unintentionally injure someone."
"You have this strength and more as a boy, Joe." Serious, you replied. "However, you also have dad's mad science, a different school is needed if you travel that path."
Joe moaned then took a bite out of his burger. "It's pretty good." After swallowing, she complimented. "It tastes like its made out of at least seven different beans."
"Eight, actually." Smiling, Rina replied. "Good guess, though."
You began working on your salad while Rina talked with you and Joe about everything and nothing until it was time to return home. "Come back any time." Politely, Rina said. "thank you for the lovely conversation."
"We might be back soon." Blushing, Joe said.
"You are still curious about the witch mall." Bemused, Rina said. "Just remember what we said, get some magic resistance first."
On the way home, Joe was thoughtful and quiet. You wondered what she could have been planning or plotting.
