The next day

“Professor Sterling, I’m here for today’s lesson.” David said, pushing open the large wooden door.

“Good, good, come in.” Professor Sterling said. “Today will be a bit different, yesterday I was simply testing your potential, now that I have an understanding of that, it’s time for you to have an understanding of the arts.”

Professor Sterling led David to a table with several books on it.

“You can start by reading these. Once done, we can test your newfound knowledge.” Professor Sterling said.

“This many books will take days to read.” David said. “I simply want to strengthen my defense against magic.”

“You need to have a capacity for it even without the charm. These will help you towards your goal.” Professor Sterling said.

In all honesty they would help both of them, each book would react to the charm, bringing him closer to Professor Sterling’s class style, while the lessons would help him build some immunity abilities. Professor Sterling watched with great interest as David began reading the first book, that one would be interesting to watch. She did train the younger magical girls after all. Page after page, chapter after chapter, David and his suit of armor shrunk. Even Professor Sterling didn’t know how young he would end up, just that he wouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

“Well that’ll be all for today David.” Professor Sterling said.

“Okay Professor, see you tomorrow.” David said. The once tall and intimidating knight, now the size of a child.

The next day David was reading yet another book, and Professor Sterling had laid this one out purposely in a spot he’d read it. This was critical for his future growth.

“Professor, can I try out this spell?” David asked, raising his hand.

“Let me see which spell it is.” Professor Sterling said. “Ah the burst charm. Let me set up a room.”

David entered the room, drawing his sword. “Heart Burst!” He shouted, a series of pink hearts shooting from the tip of his sword destroying several dummies in the process.

“Very good David, very good.” Professor Sterling praised. The changes hadn’t diminished his magical abilities as of yet. As he exited the room, Professor Sterling saw the extent of his changes so far. His hair had grown longer, and he was a bit shorter now as well, even his sword had changed from a large and heavy blade to a fencing pole, still with the heart on it, she hadn’t even seen his shield since his first day.

The day continued on as Professor Sterling monitored David’s progress, helping him with the studies every now and then to not arouse suspicion. By the time he left, it was clear from the higher voice and long pigtails, David was no longer a guy, but he didn’t know that. She still answered to David, that would have to change soon enough.

On the third day of reading, David don’t wear his armor to class.

“David, if I may ask, where is your armor?” Professor Sterling asked.

“Well, I’m doing more research than combat at the moment, and this is more comfortable.” David said, getting into his daily reading. This would require a difficult spell, his armor was critical for today.

“David, I’m going to need your brooch back for the day, just to make sure it’s not draining your energy.” Professor Sterling said.

“Oh of course.” David said, unclamping it from his tunic.

“Thank you David.” Professor Sterling said. While a duplication spell was difficult and draining a shadow clone spell would be simple enough, and give her the chance to attach the brooch to David’s armor.

As David read, a glow flowed over his tunic and pants, they were far from fancy, but they did the job. Most of his money had been spent on equipment or gear for the teams journeys, civilian clothes had always been an after thought. His tunic changed fabric becoming something a tad nicer while his pants merged together forming a floor length skirt. Even his hair once held up in pigtails fell smoothly down his back giving David the appearance of a young peasant girl. Beside him his sword changed even more, the heart jewel moving up to the tip, and the rod becoming sturdier for the offset weight.

“Here is your brooch back.” Professor Sterling said, shocking David out of his stupor. “Everything is in working order. I think it’s time for you to learn a protective spell though.”

“That would be wonderful!” David said clapping his hands together.

“So this will summon an armor to defend against other magical attack.” Professor Sterling said.

“Will it work against physical attacks as well?” David asked.

“To an extent yes, but not as well as normal armor unless the beast is mystical.” Professor Sterling said. “Now hold out your weapon and say, Love changes All!”

“Okay, I’ve got this.” David said. “Love changes all!”

David’s body floated into the air, his outfit changing around him. Now with knee high boots that were white with a red heart at the top, and a slight heel. The floor length skirt shortened to just above his knees taking on a plate like appearance with pink above and white on the lower plates. His tunic’s sleeves shrank until they were around his shoulders, the main part also turning pink with white accents, it looked similar to a chest piece on a normal suit of armor. Gloves crawled up his arms, pink plates on the arm part stretching up to his shoulders, with white fabric beneath them. His hair respun itself into curly pigtails, each held up with a heart shaped clip. His sword fully changing into a magical girl wand.

“Did it work?” David asked excitedly.

“Take a look at yourself.” Professor Sterling said, bringing him to a mirror.

What is David’s reaction?
