David's eyes went wide, giving a girlish squeal as he saw his reflection. "W-w-w-what's going on? What happened to me?! My hair! My clothes!" Finally, he clutched his throat. "M-my voice?!"
"David, what seems to be the problem?" The professor asked, expertly stifling a giggle.
"The problem? The problem! Look at me! Why am I so girly? I'm a man! What happened to my clothes? Why are they so pink?" David had gone to her to train his defenses but now in his new state he felt so vulnerable, so unprotected.
"David, I told you that this training would change you. I was sure you understood." She half lied, she knew he had misunderstood something about his training but ultimately she did think it was the best for him.
"Well, change me back. I want to be a man again." His petulant stomping doing the exact opposite in convincing her.
Even as he demanded it, David knew something else was wrong. He wasn't acting like a knight would and his mind felt clouded by some strange thoughts. It was growing harder to focus on things he used to do, things he used to know.
"David, I didn't mean to cause you distress. I thought this was what you wanted. Why did you come to me for training in the ways to magic? Surely, it wasn't so you'd look cool, was it? Didn't you want to become stronger so you could protect yourself, so you could help people?" David looked down, not wanting to show the confusion on his face. "Let me help you. If you complete your training, you will be stronger and... maybe you will come to appreciate my magics."
