As he closed the door, Josh couldn't really believe what happened. He was just trying to be kind and help somebody out, much like something his late Grandmother would do. He never would have thought to be rewarded for it, even though it was imaginary. He let out a drawn out sigh as he locked the door so that he could change out of his wet clothes in somewhat privacy. Josh quickly changed his clothes as he heard his sisters walking down the hall way. "I'm glad I can at least lock my door." He chuckled to himself as he threw the damp clothing into the hamper.
After several minutes, Josh sat down at his desk and opened up his biology textbook and started to look over his notes from the past week. As he was starting to get more into the notes, he heard his door knob giggle. "Josh, are you in there?" Jenn's voice called out to him from the other side.
"Sorry." Josh replied back to him as he got up from his desk and made his way over to the door to unlock it to let his friend into his room. Although they were boy and a girl, his Mom usually didn't mind if they were left alone together. Since they were in 1st grade, Josh and Jenn had been living on the same street and inseparable as friends.
"Jeeze man, you weren't masturbating were you?" Jenn teased as she walked into his room and nudged his arm.
"What..." He said flabbergasted as he shook his head in disbelief. "No!"
Jenn couldn't help but laugh as she watched her friend stand there in disbelief. "Relax, I was just messing with you. Wait..." She stood there for a moment as she looked at his clothes. "Did you change your clothes?"
"Yeah, I got trapped in the rain and had to change out of my wet clothes." He replied back to her.
"Wait, I thought you had an umbrella?" She asked as she put her back on his bed and started to get out her notes.
"Well, yeah I did but." Josh answered back, but soon had his thoughts trailed off.
"But what?" Jen wondered as she looked at her friend.
Josh sighed and told her what exactly happened. The rainstorm, the old lady, and the gift that she bestowed to him. "And that's it?"
Jenn stood there with a huge smile on her face. "So you're telling me that a mysterious old lady just gave you this gift?" Josh nodded his head as she asked her question. "I find that hard to believe."
Josh gave out a nervous laugh as he listened to his friend. "Yeah, I guess it is hard to digest. Let's get to work." He said as he motioned to his bed where the materials were laid out. Even though he laughed it off, he couldn't help but wonder if it was true and he could swap out his traits with others. "But what if it was real?"
"You can't be serious." Jenn chuckled as she took her seat opposite of Josh, who was nodding his head. "Well, I guess I would swap ________ with you."
Taken aback, Josh instinctively replied. "I accept." Out of nowhere, a blinding light enveloped the room.
